The global giant in the business of professional wrestling, WWE, has revived one of its classic pay-per-views as a Premium Live Event and is moving fast-paced towards it, WWE Bad Blood. WWE Bad Blood 2024 is set to take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The date also marks the 27th anniversary of the first WWE Bad Blood event taking place in 1997.
Unlike other WWE PLEs with a standard time to follow, WWE Bad Blood will feature a special start time. This decision was made to have the Premium Live Event not clash with a UFC event on the same date and time as both entities are merged under the same parent company, TKO Group Holdings. WWE Bad Blood will air on all their broadcasting networks an hour earlier than usual. The Premium Live Events usually begin at 7 PM Eastern Time; however, WWE Bad Blood will begin to air at 6 PM/11 PM BST, meaning that the timing of the show will affect all time zones where WWE is broadcast. This adds another unique layer to the classic show set to grace the WWE Universe.
Bad Blood is returning to WWE after a hiatus of 20 long years, and there couldn’t have been a more perfect time for it. With numerous long-term grudge feuds taking place across both brands simultaneously, it’s a welcome return. WWE Bad Blood is replacing the Hell in a Cell PPV, which comes as a relief to pro wrestling fans worldwide, as it guarantees that the cell will be reserved for rivalries that demand it. The event has featured some of the most stellar showdowns in the history of WWE. Moreover, the memorable moments from the event have seen the first Hell in a Cell match take place between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. The same match also saw the monumental debut of Kane, making it a classic show and could prove to be a blockbuster following WWE‘s revival of the concept. So far, WWE has announced five matches for the event. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will look to end their feud inside Hell in a Cell, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan will collide once again for the WWE Women’s Championship, Finn Balor and Damian Priest will square in a singles match following Balor’s betrayal at SummerSlam and Nia Jax’s opponent for the show is yet to be determined. Finally, the show will feature unlikely allies Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes battling against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a tag team match.
From rivalries that demand it, one can’t help but think about the worst blood feud in the WWE right now: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre. What is being advertised as the final match of their rivalry is set to take place at Bad Blood inside Hell in a Cell? Fans are arguing that CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre should be in the main event spot over a returning Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes teaming up to take on the Rogue Bloodline. This shows how much fans are invested in the rivalry. The rivalry between the two has been going on for over nine months, and it has served its purpose. Now, as all good things must come to an end, the question is who should take the win? Many might disagree, but CM Punk needs this win more, and I think that’s exactly the direction WWE will be taking as well. Drew McIntyre has been doing his career’s best work right now as a heel, and he has definitely done more in this rivalry in terms of involvement and contributions. However, CM Punk did his best despite his injuries, selling the rivalry with just the microphone in his hands. This rivalry would never have the hype it has right now without Punk.
Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest is another product of Triple H’s long-term bookings. They built it slowly and steadily for two years, planting seeds every now and then, teasing the eventual breakup until it happened at SummerSlam. However, I am surprised by the fact that they are having their first singles match this soon because Triple H really plays the long game with these sorts of matches. Since this is happening at Bad Blood, this is surely not going to be their last match. This rivalry will keep going and might as well until WrestleMania, where we see a Demon Balor. So, since this is going to be the first of many bouts, it’s much more likely that Finn Balor is going to take the win here.
